Google Drive (Legacy) desktop sync drive going away as of May 12, 2018

The legacy version of the Google Drive desktop sync drivewill be going away in May.  To prepare, if you are on the bonnyeagle.org domain please transition to to Google Drive File Stream before May.

Beginning January 30th GSuite will begin showing pop-up notifications prompting users to transition to File Stream.  These notifications will include instructions on how to install it on your machine.

While you can use Backup and Sync, File Stream is recommended for enterprise users (such as our domain) and Backup and Sync is more for private users (personal accounts).

You will need to delete the old Google Drive from your computer (found in Applications - Google Drive with the yellow, blue and green icon.  Right-click on it and delete/Move to Trash).

To install File Stream go to you Google Drive app - then click on the "gear" and Download File Stream For Mac (or PC if you are a district PC user).

Follow the prompts to install on your desktop.

To use with High Sierra, once downloaded follow these steps:

To allow certain files/folders of information to be viewed/edited offline follow these steps:

  1. Click the Drive File Stream Menu Drive File Stream.
  2. Click Open Google Drive folder Google Drive folder.
  3. Right-click the file or folder you want to save offline.
  4. Click Drive File Stream and then Available offline
